Abstract

Since the second half of 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been challenged to think about audiovisual teaching remotely for professional practice disciplines of a technical course on ‘Audio and Video Production’ at the Federal Institute of Brasilia, campus Recanto das Emas. These disciplines enable our students, young residents from the Brazilian capital peripheries, to experience the complete cycle of making a short film (documentary, fiction, or experimental) based on their ideas and original scripts. This article reports the film development stages, the students’ experiences, and our approach to teaching audiovisual remotely during the pandemic in the aforementioned disciplines. In this sense, we will present the project methodology we have built over the last three semesters (2020/2021) and explore the relationship between audiovisual and education for academic and professional training.
