Abstract

The article discusses the relationship between ethics and politics with a focus on the impact of corruption on the functioning of the political system. Bearing in mind what has been recently happening in Brazil with the unfolding of the scandals dubbed Mensalão [Monthly Allowance] and Lava Jato [Car Wash], the ar ticle points out how corruption is both eating way trust in public institutions and compromising the role of public spirit in a democracy
