Abstract

The text introduces the possibility of thinking an another concept of community to the current scenario mediatized, a concept distinct from that legacy of the Social Sciences of the nineteenth century that meant, exclusively, common substance shared (territory, culture, ethnicity, class, etc.). This concept, claimed by important thinkers – such as Bataille, Blanchot, Nancy, Rancière, Derrida, Agamben and others –, is developed here by hermeneutics of Roberto Esposito that finds in the archaic meaning of community (communitas) a fundamental ontology. This ontology, based on the concept of physis (which Heidegger draws from a study of the Aristotelian substance), provides a genetic structure of the community entifications that can be accepted by the communication studies not only to expand their research subjects, but to legitimize communicational interventions in the biopolitic struggle.
