Abstract
Ovarian stimulation by exogenous gonadotropins resulting in the formation of multiple corpus lutei is expected to increase serum relaxin, a peptide hormone and potent stimulator of collagen breakdown. Elevated relaxin levels are associated with preterm delivery in both singleton and multiple gestations (Weiss et al., 1993; Iams et al., 2001). Therefore, our objective was to assess whether an association exists between oocyte numbers at retrieval and preterm delivery in pregnancies resulting from ART.
