Abstract
Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) in dogs is a chronic condition that affects the gastrointestinal tract, manifesting through symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting, and weight loss. This case study aims to analyze the occurrence of IBD in a dog, highlighting the difficulties in early diagnosis and appropriate treatment. The medical record of a dog with chronic gastrointestinal symptoms was reviewed, focusing on the tests performed and the treatment administered. The analysis revealed shortcomings in the diagnostic process, including the underutilization of complementary tests, such as endoscopy with biopsy, and the lack of early referral to a veterinary gastroenterology specialist. The study emphasizes the importance of a specific clinical protocol for differential diagnosis and appropriate treatment of IBD.
