Abstract
The Pantanal wetland in Mato Grosso state, have their dynamics and functioning particularly related to the flood pulse, in these environments, aquatic macrophytes play an important role in the cycling and storage of nutrients due to the large amount of biomass and nutrientes they accumulate. The samples were collected at three samples points: Chacororé Lake, Sinhá Mariana Lake and the transition between them. The aim of this study was to analyze the stock of nutrients in E. crassipes in the Cacororé-Sinhá Mariana Lake System. The total concentration of nutrients in the biomass of E. crassipes obeyed the following orders in Chacororé, in the dry season K >N >P >Mg >Na > Ca in the flood N > K > Mg > P > Na > Ca in Sinhá Mariana/Mutum in the dry season K > N > P > Mg > Na > Ca and in the flood K > N > Mg > P > Ca > Na, and in Sinhá Mariana/Chacororé in the dry season K > Mg > N > P > Ca > Na, in the flood K > N > Mg > P > Ca > Na. It was clear that K and N were the nutrients with the highest concentrations in the biomass of E. crassipes. This research corroborates other studies carried out in the Pantanal on the importance of the flood pulse in the stock and release of nutrients.
