Abstract

Abstract Change agent, critical thinker, independent learner, client advocate, and skilled practitioner, able to apply theory to practice in both acute care and community settings with individuals, families, and aggregates — these terms are all used to describe the characteristics of graduates of nursing programs that prepare nurses for the future. Unfortunately, few settings in which undergraduate nursing students gain clinical experience help them cultivate the full cadre of skills needed to develop these characteristics.
