Abstract
AbstractA nursing practice model was devised to identify intrapersonal, interpersonal, and extrapersonal factors that influence patients' decision to use or not to use contraception. After these factors were isolated and their relationships established, they were examined to see in what areas the nurse could intervene in order to affirm patients' right to choose and to allow them more freedom of choice. These areas of influence came from literature and studies, but it is hoped that the publication of this model will spur additional research to validate these factors and their relationships, and to test the effectiveness of nursing intervention in the identified areas.
