Abstract
This article is an update to the original article “Nurses With Chemical Dependency: Promoting Successful Treatment and Reentry” published 10 years ago in the Journal of Nursing Regulation. The article draws on nearly 40 years of experience of working with healthcare professionals with substance use disorder (SUD) and dual diagnoses across the United States. This updated article documents what has changed and what has stayed the same over the past decade in the successful identification, treatment, reentry, and aftercare of nurses with SUD.
