Abstract

James Bronaugh Cooper, Associate Professor of Clemson University, Clemson, South Carolina, died May 29, 1995 after an extended illness. Cooper, a native of Nicholasville, Kentucky, was 80 yr of age. He taught at Clemson University from July 1, 1945 until his retirement June 30, 1975. He received the B.S. degree in 1935 and M.S. degree in 1938 from the University of Kentucky. He was superintendent of the Kentucky Experiment Station Poultry Farm from 1938 to 1940 before accepting a teaching position at the University of Georgia. He moved to then Clemson College in a teaching position in Poultry Husbandry.Cooper was an outstanding teacher who took a personal and lasting interest in his students. He taught courses in management, processing, diseases, incubation and hatchery management, and breeding. He was recognized in 1975 for his teaching excellence by the Poultry Science Association with its Ralston Purina Teaching Award.From 1963 to …
