Abstract

Meritt A. “Dan” Boone, 73, former professor of Poultry Science at clemson University, Clemson, South Carolina died September 29, 1993 at his home. He was born April 27, 1920 in Geneva, Nebraska. He received the B./S. degree in agriculture in 1941 from the University of Nebraska. As an undergraduate he was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity, the Cornhusker band, the poultry judging team, and the dairy products judging team. During World War II, he served in the Veterinary Corps as a meat inspector. He received the M.S. degree in poultry nutrition from Michigan State University in 1947, and in that same year accepted a position at, then, Clemson College in South Carolina. Boone received the Ph.D. degree in poultry physiology from the University of Georgia in 1962.Boone was a dedicated teacher of undergraduate and graduate courses and major advisor to at least 12 M.S. students.
