Abstract

W. C. Homeyer, 92, a pioneer of the Texas poultry industry, died in Decatur, Alabama, on March 9, 1979. Funeral services for Professor Homeyer were held at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, March 12, followed by burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Houston, Texas.Professor Homeyer was the first commercial nutritionist in Texas, having been called from the academic field in 1928 by the old Universal Mills of Fort Worth, Texas, to become the director of research and nutrition, and to supervise the construction of the first research station owned and operated by a Texas feed mill. He was one of the very early members of American Feed Manufacturers Association (AFMA), Nutrition Council, and was elected to life membership in that organization. He was also the first honorary member of the Texas Baby Chick Association.Homeyer was a graduate of both the University of Texas and Texas A&M University. He attended the .
