Abstract

The exploration of hot dry rock (HDR) geothermal resources in the Gonghe Basin of Qinghai Province plays a vital role in promoting the development of clean energy in the future. As a new type of clean energy, the HDR geothermal resource is more environmentally friendly than other fossil fuels. Therefore, it is practically significant to detect where the HDR reservoir is located. As the physical characteristics of HDR geothermal resources assemble to a viscoelastic medium, a viscoelastic wave field simulation method based on the low rank approximation is used to study it. One advantage of this method is that the attenuation of seismic waves caused by the absorption of viscoelastic medium can be characterized by quality factor Q, and the wave-field P is solved in the case of low-rank approximation. According to the geological conditions of the Gonghe Basin in Qinghai Province, a velocity is built. At the same time, a Q model is established to characterize the attenuation of seismic wave energy and amplitude of different rock strata. A large-scale wavefield forward simulation is carried out to analyze the correlation between seismic wave response and reservoir absorption and attenuation characteristics.
