Abstract
Natural convection in a 2D rectangular cavity with vertically partial filled porous media was numerically simulated by using lattice Boltzmann method (LBM). The cavity was enclosed with four non-slip flow boundaries, and its left part was filled with porous media, and the remained right part open free. The natural convection behaviors of fluid flow and temperature distribution were numerically studied for a configuration with a heating surface at left and a cooling surface at right, and the top and bottom surfaces were adiabatic. The local heat transfer coefficient at the cooling surface of right side was analyzed in detail at conditions with various types of filled porous media. The interface function that separates the fluid in open free space from porous media was numerically studied.
