Abstract
ABSTRACT A simple mathematical model of diamond bit drilling, which accounts for diamond wear is applied for simulating bit performance. The model predicts the influence of weight on bit, rotary speed and bit rotating time on instantaneous rate of drilling, footage, bit wear and cost. A heat transfer model is presented. By application of drilling and heat transfer models, a minimum volumetric air flow rate required for sufficient bit cooling is determined.
