Abstract

A two dimensional vertical mathematical model is proposed for simulating the local scour around submarine pipelines. The change caused by local scour of ∞ow fleld and pressure fleld around submarine pipelines is simulated through solving standard k- turbulence model using flnite element numerical method. Result of simulation compared with experiment result to check reliability of the mathematical model. The equilibrium proflle of local scour around submarine pipelines is accurately simulated through establishing mathematical model. Then the mechanism of seabed erosion under pipelines is revealed.
