Abstract

In the current study, potential improvements in both flow field and heat transfer characteristics ofa prototype solar chimney for power generation through passive flow control approaches havebeen numerically examined. The numerical modeling was conducted for three different schemesto enhance the velocity magnitude at the entrance of the chimney. The first scheme is concernedwith the effect of the number of turbulent generators on the maximum flow speed obtained whilethe second scheme deals with the effect of throat area at the entrance of the chimney. The lastscheme is related to investigating the effect of making round edges having different radii at theentrance of the chimney.
