Abstract

This paper presents a new numerical identification method of coating bulk behaviour. The identification method is based on inverse method and use Brinell indentation. The identified bulk behaviour law represents not only the coating, but the coating and its neighbouring substrate. So, the substrate–coating interaction is considered. To identify the parameters of a chosen bulk behaviour law, an iterative algorithm is proposed. This algorithm uses sensibility criteria. Contrary to a classical dichotomous algorithm, the identification time is minimised, and the bulk behaviour law of the coated steel can be identified with more accuracy.
