Abstract

In this work, a two-way coupling Eulerian-Lagrangian approach is presented for the simulation of erosion on 90° and 180° curved bends. The turbulence effect on the particle dispersion is evaluated by a stochastic separated flow model. An erosion model based on the empirical correlation of particle-surface material properties and particle impact conditions for the ductile alloys is illustrated to predict erosive wear. The effects of inlet flow velocity, turbulence intensity, and particle size on erosion are also discussed.
