Abstract

The probable error and error area are the most commonly used parameters for performance evaluation of coal preparation density separators. Based on expressing the density separator partition curve mathematically, mathematical expressions for the probable error and error area are derived. The derived expressions offer advantages over existing, methods in avoiding the graphical representation of the partition curve and the numerical integration used in the evaluation of the error area. The proposed approach can be easily implemented on digital computers.
