Abstract

The motion of a vertical Bloch line (VBL) pair, representing the information unit in the recently proposed VBL memory, along the wall of a stripe domain in ferrimagnetic garnets is simulated numerically. The local position of such a VBL pair was stabilized by a periodic external in-plane magnetic field H ip oriented parallel to the wall. Bias field pulses H z were applied to propagate a VBL pair from one bit position to the next. The influence of both field amplitudes, bias and periodic in-plane fields, on VBL-propagation has been examined. The undesirable process of additional VBLs generation is discussed also. The operation margins of H z and H ip for stable VBL propagation in a VBL memory are given.
