Abstract

Numerical solutions to the time-dependent MHD equations have been obtained for parameters appropriate to the SPICA experiment. The first 10 μsec of the discharge is followed and results obtained are in broad agreement with the experiment. The greatest outstanding problem concerns the detailed treatment of the low-density region surrounding the main pinch after the implosion.
