Abstract

Alder and Winther's theoretical predictions for excitation amplitudes, probabilities and cross sections for multiple E2 Coulomb excitation of rotational states have been numerically evaluated on a high speed computer. The range of parameters chosen is particularly used in the analysis of excitations produced by heavy ions in the energy range obtainable with Tandem Van de Graaff accelerators. The results form a basis for further extension of the calculations.
