Abstract
During the course of mechanistic investigations of nucleophilic attach on 4,6-dimethoxy-2-pyrones, a rapid scrambling reaction has been found between 4,6-dimethoxy-3-methyl-2-pyrone and the corresponding 5-methyl isomer.
