Abstract

The effect of multiple scatterings by a pair of bound nucleons on nuclear reactions induced by a low energy pion is investigated. It is pointed out that in the double charge exchange scattering the energy loss of pion and the decrease of the cross section for the forward scattering with the mass number of the target nucleus result from the multiple scatterings.
