Abstract

Two polarization transfer experiments are described which appear to offer a feasible way to (a) measure the ratio of the deuteron monopole and quadrupole form factors and (b) measure the neutron and proton electric form factors. These measurements are particularly important because our lack of knowledge of the neutron charge form factor at high Q 2 makes it difficult to draw precise conclusions from electron ed scattering and either one of these measurements would help correct this problem. It is extremely important that the ρπγ exchange current contribution to the deuteron form factor be calculated relativistically.
