Abstract

“O Ensino Público no Congresso Nacional. Breve Notícia” written by Primitivo Moacyr, and published in 1916 is this paper’s subject. Our work focuses on the perspective of studies of its materiality according to assumptions of book and lecture history referred to by Roger Chartier and Robert Darnton. A comparison between the chronicles published in the newspaper “Jornal do Commercio”, and book’s content was favoured expecting to find a ipsis litteris reproduction. Different amendments were identified as a result of editing process, and others as a result of each plataform used by the author. We concluded besides these changes it is crucial to mention that each plataform requires a distinct way of reading, a diverse audience (implicit reader), and its express author intention to share intellectual practice at that time. Subject analysis presented here intends to contribute to current studies on the intersection of histories of education, book, and press.
