Abstract

Literature is among the references searched in the building of narratives about the Brazilian Northeast. In respect to the photography, productions that have a dialogue with literary works of regionalistic theme are identified. We aim to weave reflections about Maureen Bisilliat’s photographs published in the book Sertoes, luz e trevas (1982), in which she intercalates excerpts of Os Sertoes (1902), of Euclides da Cunha, to pictures done between 1967 and 1972. Bibliographic review, personal reports and an analysis of the photographic images present themselves as manners of access with creative process of the photographer, outlining, on this way, a better understanding of her narrative, that elects the hinterland as space of approach.
