Abstract

Chelating ligands are very effective for the preparation of homogeneous ceramic solid solutions. Lead zirconate titanate (PZT) nanocrystalline powder with a composition near morphotropic phase boundary was prepared by a co-precipitation method using a chelating organic ligand, 8-hydroxyquinoline(oxine). The oxinate co-precipitate, on calcination at 600°C, yielded nanocrystalline PZT powder. The crystalline phase, compositional homogeneity, particle size and morphology of the PZT powder were examined by XRD, ICP-OES and TEM.
