Abstract
The emergence and significance of using wireless communications now days is rapidly growing and hence it leads to different research challenges. The mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is not new to such challenges. The most important and primary challenge for MANET is guaranteed QoS for wireless communications with different types of data such as FTP, CBR or VBR. The mobile nodes in MANET are randomly and frequently moving in network and hence this leads to the frequent change in network topology. The frequent changes in network topology may suffer from the frequent task of link breaks and links building to transfer data from source node to intended receiver node. The performance of MANET routing protocols is significantly affected by the mobility conditions in network. As the QoS of MANET is mainly depends on routing protocol used, in this paper our main focus is on designing QoS efficient new routing protocol for MANET. The proposed routing protocol is based on Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm. ACO is Swarm Intelligence (SI) based technique and it is more feasible for handling mobility aware routing in MANET. The ACO based technique uses the nodes current position and load parameters as routing metrics in order to improve the network QoS performance. This proposed method used the RSSI measurements to determine the distance between two mobile nodes. This new routing protocol is named as QoS Mobility Aware ACO (QMAA) Routing Protocol. This protocol is simulated and compared with AODV routing protocol using NS3. The simulation results claims that QMAA achieved efficient QoS performance as compared AODV method.
