Novel oligonuclear Zn II4, Zn II8 and Zn II2Ni II2 complexes with bis(benzoylacetone)-1,3-diiminopropan-2-ol

Abstract

Reactions of bis(benzoylacetone)-1,3-diiminopropan-2-ol (abbreviated as H 3L) with zinc salts in the presence of triethylamine afforded the compounds [Zn 4(HL) 4]·4CH 3CN ( 1·4CH 3CN) and [Zn 8L 4(OH) 4]·2CH 3CN ( 2·2CH 3CN). Further reaction of 1 with Ni(CH 3COO) 2·4H 2O gave the heteronuclear species [Zn 2Ni 2(L) 2(CH 3O) 2(CH 3OH) 2] ( 3). The crystal structures of 1·4CH 3CN, 2·2CH 3CN and 3 were determined by the X-ray diffraction method.
