Abstract

The ML 2(CH 3OH) 2 complexes have been obtained by the reaction of Cu(II), Ni(II) and Co(II) acetates with 2,2,5,5-tetramethyl-4-nitromethylidene-3-imidazolidine-1-oxyl (LH) in methanol and the CuL 2 complex by the reaction of Cu(CH 3COO) 2·H 2O with LH in ethanol. Investigation of the magnetic properties of the complexes indicates ferromagnetic intramolecular and antiferromagnetic intermolecular exchange interactions in ML 2(CH 3OH) 2 For CuL 2 at T<10 K there is a ferromagnetic ordering. An X-ray structural investigation of CoL 2(CH 3OH) 2 reveals that the compound has a layered structure.
