Abstract

Novel naphthalimide derivatives containing carbazole moiety have been synthesized as electroluminescent (EL) materials. The high HOMO level (5.80 eV) of carbazole moiety in the dyad molecules could increase the hole-injection properties and keep the carrier balance. The effective intramolecular hole transfer from carbazole moiety to naphthalimide was existed. A single-layer EL device was also fabricated and a bright yellow-green light peak at 535 nm was resulted from naphthalimide moiety with a maximum brightness of 110 cd/m 2 and a maximum current density of 240 mA/cm 2 .
