Abstract

Abstract Sensor networks consist of wireless enabled sensor nodes with limited energy. One of the most important problems in wireless sensor network is to develop an energy efficient routing protocol. Reducing energy consumption and prolonging network lifetime is an important issue in wireless sensor network. In this paper we propose a novel Hierarchical Routing Protocol (HRP) for prolonging sensor network lifetimes. HRP first cluster the network by the new factors second, construct routing tree on cluster heads for sending aggregated data to the base station. Also in this paper we present new intra-cluster coverage that can save more energy in sensors. Simulation results show that HRP can remarkably extend the network lifetime and amount of data gathered.
