Abstract

Sensor networks consist of wireless enabled sensor nodes with limited energy. Develop an energy-efficient routing protocol is the most important problem in wireless sensor network. Savaging energy and network lifetime is a vital issue in wireless sensor network. This paper, propose a novel Energy aware Hierarchical Routing Protocol (EHRP) for extending sensor network lifetimes. EHRP has two phases, in first phase, cluster heads are selected and constructed clusters by using new parameters, in the next phase, spanning routing tree constructed on cluster heads for sending aggregated data to the base station. This paper completes our work [1] by changing cluster and tree formation formulas. Simulation results show that EHRP can extend the network lifetime and amount of data gathered when compared with CBRP [1] and other routing protocols.
