Abstract
Four novel blue luminescent organic compounds have been synthesized and fully characterized. These new compounds are 7-azaindole derivatives, including 1,3-di(N-7-azaindolyl)benzene (1), 1-bromo-3,5-di(N-7-azaindolyl)benzene (2), 1,3,5-tri(N-7-azaindolyl)benzene (3), and 4,4‘-di(N-7-azaindolyl)biphenyl (4). The crystal structures of 1 and 4 were determined by X-ray diffraction analyses. Electroluminescent devices using 3 or 4 as the emitter have been fabricated, which confirmed that compounds 3 and 4 can function as a blue emitter and a hole transport material in electroluminescent devices.
