Abstract

Abstract Critical notes on Arabis (Brassicaceae) in the Flora of Italy and neighbouring regions.—Nomenclatural changes and changes of rank (compared with Flora Europaea) are performed in several taxa of Arabis. The former Arabis planisiliqua must be divided into a western mediterranean, ± xerophilous species—A. planisiliqua (Pers.) Reichenb.—, and a ± hygrophilous one—A. nemorensis (Hoffm.) Koch, native of Central and Eastern Europe. The former Arabis allionii is to be divided into Arabis allionii DC. proper of the Western Alps and A. sudetica Tausch of the Eastern Alps, Sudetes, Carpathians and SE Europe (not native in Italy). Arabis collina Ten. covers A. muralis Bertol. (nom. illeg.) and A. collina Ten. pro parte of former floras, only A. rosea DC. has been left as a separate species. Arabis pumila Jacq. includes two subspecies: subsp. pumila and subsp. stellulata (Bertol.) Nyman.
