Abstract
In order to achieve single terminal fault location by fault recorder, considering of current status of the distributed fault recorder system while structure and performance of device we improved the fault recorder hardware architecture as four data acquisition modules controlled by CPLD and the data processing analysis module controlled by master DSP to enhance system sampling and processing level relied on powerful data analysis and processing capabilities of high performance DSP, and then put forward a fault location algorithm based on differential equation which executed by DSP itself. A large number of simulation results show the algorithm can satisfy the practical engineering requirements, therefore this research demonstrates that use power system fault recorder to get single terminal fault location is feasible from either hardware or software aspects.
