Abstract

Incentive mechanism design for knowledge workers depends on managers' basic assumptions on human nature. Based on human nature assumptions in management thoughts and need theory in behavior sciences, human nature in an integrated sense contains triple attributes: economic nature, social nature and developmental nature. And economic nature is the basic attribute, while social nature and developmental nature are the essential attributes. Therefore, organizations can design incentive mechanisms for knowledge workers from three perspectives which are service-oriented organizational culture, brand-oriented human resource management, and strategy-oriented stakeholder governance in order to motivate knowledge workers' productive potentials.
