Abstract
This paper was aimed to investigate effects of zanthoxylum on growth performance, immune function and carcass characteristics in broilers. A total of 320 male AA broilers (1 day of age) were randomly allotted to 4 groups (control, A, B, C), each group has 4 replicates with 20 broilers in each replicate, and fed basal diets supplemented with 0%, 0.10%, 0.20% and 0.30% zanthoxylum for 42 days, respectively. The results showed that compared with the control group, weight gain and FCR of B and C groups were increased significantly, whereas, the abdominal fat percentage were reduced significantly (P<;0.05). In addition, thymus index, bursal of fabricius index, globulin content, antibody titer of chicken newcastle disease of A and B groups were significant increase, respectively (P<;0.05). These results indicated that zanthoxylum (from 0.2% to 0.3%) of feed could increased growth performance, improve carcass characteristics and immune function in broilers.
