Abstract

ABSTRACTThe two-dimensional domain structures in YMnO3, which has a ferroelectric phase with the tripled lattice period, have been analyzed by using a discrete model, where the nearest and the next nearest neighbor interactions along the x-direction are taken into account, while only the nearest neighbor interaction is considered in the y-direction. The parameter values in the model are determined so that the structure with the tripled period would be stabilized. It has turned out that, by using such parameter values, the two-dimensional distribution of the dipole moments in the vicinity of the longitudinal and transverse domain walls are reproduced well.
