Abstract

Twelve species of marine algae are newly recorded from Taiwan and its offshore islands. These include 3 species of Chlorophyta and 9 species of Rhodophyta. They are Tydemania expeditionis Weber-van Bosse, Udotea argentea Zanardini, Udotea fragilifolia Tseng et Dong, Porphyra vietnamensis Tanaka et P.-H. Ho, Titanophora pulchra Dawson, Botryocladia leptopoda (J. Agardh) Kylin, Laurencia nipponica Yamada, L. okamurai Yamada, L. pannosa Zanardini, L. dotyi Saito, L. hamata Yamada and L. parvipapillata Tseng. Of these Tydemania and Titanophora are new genera for Taiwan. Their biogeographical affinities are also discussed briefly
