Abstract

Three coins found near Alyki at Larnaka are presented in the "Chronique des fouilles et découvertes archéologiques à Chypre en 1991", BCH 116 (1992), p. 796, 798, figs. 13-15. They are three silver coins which were struck, one at Pergamon at the end of the 4th c, the second in an unknown Cypriot workshop at the beginning of the 5th c. and the third in (?) Cyrenaica in the mid-5th c. BC. The Pergamon coin is a well-known type. The coin struck in Cyprus is of a denomination hitherto unattested. The coin from (?) Cyrenaica is of a very reduced weight, for reasons that escape us. In this article we study the types, dating, denominations and circulation of these coins in Cyprus.
