of the previous archaeological work, and no really satisfactory publications emerged from the long period of French work at the site, with the exception of J.W. Salomonson's study (1965) of the mosaics from the Maison des Chevaux. Major problems remained with the chronology of most of the excavated structures. No comprehensive publications of pottery, coins, or other raw data existed which might have permitted a better chronology to be developed.
