Abstract
Purpose: Air embolism may lead to severe ventricular dysfunction, arrhythmias, and neurological deficits. The randomness and quick advent of air embolism makes their management challenging. Field flooding with CO2 is one method to reduce the risk of air embolism. Humidified CO2 may further improve gas dissolution of residual microemboli. Our study evaluated field flooding with normothermic humidified CO2.
