Abstract
Non-suppressed ion chromatography with an immobilized enzyme reactor was developed for the simultaneous determination of urea and alkali metal ions. The enzyme reactor was prepared by immobilizing urease onto activated glass beads. The proposed method made it possible to determine urea rapidly as the resultant ammonium ion. The mixtures of sodium, potassium, ammonium ions, and urea were easily analyzed. This method was applied to the rapid determination of alkali metal ions and urea in human urine. The results indicate the usefulness of the method.
