Abstract

A fiber-optic system for transmitting pulsed signals using DWDM technology is considered. A transmission system modeling program has been created using the object-oriented language C#. The article investigates the influence of pulsed signal parameters, self-phase modulation, cross-phase modulation and optical amplifier noise on signal quality factor, i.e. Q-factor. The research is carried out under conditions of pulsed signal parameters variation: the pulsed signal peak power level and pulsed signal duty cycle. The dependence of Q-factor value on optical power per channel for "return to zero" linear code with various pulsed signal duty cycle values is demonstrated.
