Abstract

In this work, the nonlocal nonlinear response fields in conjunction with two-dimensional Green's functions are implemented to solve the second harmonic generation (SHG) current density of a simple metal surface. By considering the surface boundary scattering of conduction electrons in metal films, we can fully elucidate the SHG without implying two phenomenological parameters a and b pertaining to the selvedge and bulk current sources as presented in the conventional hydrodynamic model.
