Abstract

The two-dimensional Green's function for an infinite free elastic plate is calculated for an arbitrary time harmonic line force parallel to the surfaces of the plate. This force may act on the surface of the plate or within the plate. Using this two-dimensional Greens' function, representation theorems are derived for a terminated plate. For “mixed” boundary conditions at the termination of the plate, explicit solutions are derived for the reflections of waves and for the excitation of the plate at the terminating end.
