Abstract

This work is dedicated to the study of non-linear behaviour of a magnetic liquid simultaneously subjected to the action of two orthogonal fields. One of the orthogonal fields is alternate (with a frequency of some kHz), and the other is continuous. The study was conducted especially following the second harmonic of the AC field. The experimental set-up for the study of cylindrical ferrofluid samples is presented. The installation prefigures a method for measuring low-amplitude magnetic fields. The experimental results confirm the theoretical method.
